We were active members of Intervac and enjoyed several exchanges up until 10 years ago. Now we have rejoined and are ready to travel once more. We can be flexible with our length of time. |
The culture of a university town mingles with the natural beauty of the Appalachian/Blue Ridge Mountains.
Our mid-century brick ranch house lies in a quiet neighborhood but is easily walkable to Va Tech Campus, a farmers' market, and the shops and restaurants of downtown. Our house has 2 bedrooms, a den with a sofa that can be used as a bed, 1 and a half bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, a small dining room, and a comfortable living room. Our large fenced backyard overlooks a charming steeple and glimpses of the Blue Ridge mountains. Our daughter and her family live very close by and will be glad to help you in any way during your stay.
We enjoy the striking contrast between our beach (US53513) and mountain (US53506) settings. We find it a relaxing easy
5- 6 hour drive through rolling hills down to the very flat coastal plain. We can offer this to you too with an option to experience both homes.

Blacksburg, Virginia may be a college town—the proud home of Virginia Tech's Hokies(football team)—but any visitor will immediately sense that it's much more than just a temporary students' home.
Blacksburg, Virginia can be the ideal retreat. Located in close proximity to various points on the Appalachian Trail—including the famed McAfee Knob—as well as a variety of walking, hiking, and biking trails as well as picturesque rivers, and farms, Blacksburg offers a copious itinerary of outdoor adventures. This relaxed small town promises abundant bursts of fall foliage, as the Blue Ridge Mountains serve as Blacksburg's picturesque backdrop. Just a few miles outside Blacksburg lies the Pandapas Pond area and the George Washington and Thomas Jefferson National Forests offer hiking trails perfect for exploring the natural beauty of this locale. About Our Family
We are a retired couple who like traveling together. Gary is a retired psychologist who enjoys woodworking, reading, and cooking. Estelle is a retired teacher who busies herself with quilting, cooking, reading, and beekeeping. Both of us cherish every moment we spend with our grandchildren(age 5 and age 7) who live very close by.
We have made several exchanges under an expired intervac registration: Finland, Denmark, Sweden, France. We have also traveled to Germany and Australia. This year(2024) we are taking up our travels once more and are open for all destinations.
Our daughter and her family( her husband and our prized grandchildren) live close to our Blacksburg house and will be happy to help you in any way.
