House in Stallhofen, Styria
Welcome to the South of Austria!
Our house is located about 25 km from Graz, the capital of Styria. Graz is the second largest city of Austria und it was Europe`s cultural capital in 2003.
We live in a small nice village not far away from the Alps, the cities of Vienna, Salzburg, Budapest and Venice und you can also reach the Slovenian, Croatian and Italian sea within a few hours.
You will be staying in our home, built in 2005, 250 sqm, suitable for up to 10 people. Our house is very comfortable and welcoming. We have 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen which is the heart of the house and connected to the living room, the library and the big sun deck where the barbeque is.
Outside in the garden there are a swimming pool, a trampoline, a little football field and our sun side terrace. Ww have a lot of toys (also for younger kids and babies) and downstairs there are two children's playing room with lots of games, as well as table tennis, dart, playstation, nintendo wii and a billiard table.
We have several bikes which you can use to explore the neigbourhoods. You have the forest and the village in walking distance.
In the village there are a supermarket, a bakery, a drugstore and a bank in walking distance.
Holidays in Styria stand for diverse enjoyment – "from Glacier to Wine". The green heart of Austria is known for its variety of different types of landscapes.
An impressive 5,838 metres of difference in altitude lie between the highest point on the Dachstein (2,995 metres above sea level) and the lowest point at Vulkania thermal spring (2,843 metres below sea level) in Rogner Bad Blumau. It is contrasts like these that guests and locals appreciate. The alpine north, the urban centre of Graz and the enjoyable south and east offer countless possibilities within short distance.
You can go to Piber for a visit of the stud farm to see the Lippizan horses (15 minutes) or splashing about at the thermal spas in the East of Styria (45mintes). A lot of our Intervac friends liked to visit Vienna (2hours) or Salzburg (3 hours). Some of them also went to Venice (4,5 hours) or the mediterranean sea in Italy or Croatia to spend some days there.
There are so many fantastice sites to visit throughout whole Styria and we would be happy to provide any information you need. If you have some special requests, tell us and we will see if we can arrange it.

About Our Family
Our family consists of Sigrid and Markus (both 47) and our four children Marco (22 years), Hanna (20 years), Simon (19 years) and Lea (14years). Markus works in an IT Company and Sigrid in our local kindergarden. The two eldest kids are at university and they already have their own flats in Graz and Innsbruck. Lea and Simon are still at high school in Graz.
We already had 10 great exchanges with so many wonderful memories.
We are an active family. The boys love playing football, Hanna is our skiing expert and likes hiking and being in the mountains a lot. Lea spends lots of her time horse riding. We all like swimming, skiing, football, reading, horse riding and travelling.
We have three cats. . In summer the cats spend a lot of time outside but of course they like to be fondled.
In the garden and meadow next to our house there live our three mini shettland ponies Flo, Sammy and Franziska. They are really sweet and love to be groomed and feeded with apples and carrots. But don't worry you won't have a lot of work with them and of course friends/neighbours can care for them. They have hay and water self service so you don`t have to do anything but you can visit or take care of them, if you like to.

CA1003209Sigrid and Markus are exceptionally caring in the way they provide for their guests. Both on arriving at their home, and on returning to Canada, we were greeted with nice notes and many provisions left for us. They maintained daily conversations via WhatsApp, quickly resolving any question we had. Their home is in a beautiful area of Austria, hilly and green, and close to Sigrid's sister and parents, all off whom were equally welcoming and kind. You will enjoy bringing treats to their ponies and goats, and feeding their 4 amusing cats, each of whom has a distinct personality.
Stallhofen is quite close to Graz, a lovely city, well worth a visit or two, and less than two hours from beautiful Vienna, which of course is also well worth the trip.
