I will not be making any exchanges for the remainder of 2024, but am interested in planning ahead for 2025 |
Dublin - Close to the City Centre in the Northside Suburb of Cabra
If you would like an exchange with a Dublin House, get in touch.
My most recent exchange meant a stay in Bilbao for 20 days. I usually travel with my partner Nóirín Greene, who also has an Intervac listing. https://us.intervac-homeexchange.com/listings/IE1008390 We can do non-simultaneous exchanges if that suits.
I am open to offers for short weekend city-break exchanges (3-5 days) in 2025 - or a short exchange that could last less than one week.
We would also like to agree at least one longer swap in 2025.
if you like to plan in advance, there's no harm in floating proposals that might not come to fruition till 2025.
The house has all mod cons: Gas Cooker, Fridge and Freezer, Dishwasher and Washing Machine, TV and Radio (local Irish Stations plus Free-to-Air Satellite Stations), Android TV, DVD Player, always-on WiFi (including access to a Wi-Fi enabled Smart TV), Netflix Movies, and so on.
The kitchen leads via an archway into a living-room, followed by a downstairs toilet-shower.
There is also a toilet with a shower upstairs.
There are two bedrooms and a study (which can also be used as a bedroom) - so, three in total.
Access to the city centre is simple via public transport (bus, tram and train). A bus trip to the Dublin City centre takes about 20 minutes. A LUAS tram line between Cabra and Dublin City opened in December 2017. The Broombridge Terminus is a 10-15 minute walk from 236 Carnlough Road. This also the site of a train station on the Connolly Station to Maynooth line.
Carnlough Road is in Cabra – a Northside suburb close to the Dublin City Centre with good public transport links.

Wikitravel offers a fairly accurate guide to Dublin - as a local I can quibble with some of the statements, but writing these guides is a difficult art as information can go out of date pretty quickly.

I am a public transport user – buses, trains and trams – and commute most days to the city centre – the journey time varies from fifteen to twenty minutes depending on the traffic.
Local shops are a short walk around the corner – nothing too fancy but the prices are reasonable by Dublin standards. Aldi, Polonez and Lidl supermarkets are fairly near - the closest is Aldi (5-10 minute walk), followed by Polonez (15 minute walk) and the Lidl shop takes a little longer than 15 minutes.
Dublin is a city of contrasts – I recommend new visitors take a trip on the 46A bus from start to finish – it begins on the North Side of the city in Infirmary Road beside the huge Phoenix Park (home to the Zoo) and finishes on the South Side in the old port town of Dún Laoghaire. In between you travel through a good cross-section of the city.
