Cosy town house within cycling distance to the city center of Ghent

Our house is located in a dead-end street in a quiet neighbourhood of our beautiful Ghent. You can reach the city center in ten -fifteen minutes by bike or bus. At the end of the street there is a large park where you can have a walk or a picnic. There is also a nice subtropical swimming pool in the park.
Our cozy home has 4 bedrooms. We also have a well-equipped little kitchen and a bathroom with all modern conveniences. There is also a small city garden with a BBQ. Internet, bikes (also a parent-child tandem), a Piano, PlayStation and a Karaoke machine are at your disposal.

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Brussels Airport - 65 km - there is a good train connection between Brussels and Ghent

Ghent is a bustling city that offers you plenty of sightseeing opportunities, great restaurants and good bars, shops and cultural activities. There is sociability in the air and the city is usually full of students and families looking for a good time.
Gent is also very child-friendly and in almost every museum, there are separate tours for children. You can also explore Gent by boat!

If you like sports, there is a running track and a swimming pool in the park which is just 5 minutes away by foot. The swimming pool also hosts a sauna and a wellness area. In Ghent, there are also different skateparks, a climbing hall and a climbing park (Blaarmeersen) which are absolutely worth visiting.

To go to other Belgian cities like Brussels, Bruges, Leuven or Antwerp, we recommend taking the train. Of course by car is also an option but the train brings you right in the center of the town and you don´t have to look for a parking spot. The capital Brussels, but also Antwerp, Bruges, or Ieper are within a one hour travel radius.

Our neighborhood offers quite some options for things to do with small children as well. There are a couple of recreation grounds, including the already mentioned (subtropical) swimming pool with an entirely separate section for the little ones as well as a nature domain “Gentbrugse Meersen” only a few kilometers away.

In our street you get the opportunity to meet other people, to communicate, to play in the street, to skate, to roller-skate, to cycle with your bike. We love living here in our street, in our house. We are still in the finishing phase of our renovation project but it is already a very warm and cozy place. We also have a small garden where you can sit and eat outside, have a BBQ and relax.

Each year on the last weekend of June, there is a small festival in our park which is called "Copacobana". You can find more information here: http://copacobana.be/nl
It is a nice festival featuring smaller and local bands. Just if you like your nights calm and quiet, you better don´t come this last weekend of June.

And If you consider a house swapping, please also take into account the yearly “Gentse Feesten” which usually take place in the second half of July. At that time there is a huge music & theatre festival going on in the city center that lasts ten days and takes up the entire inner city. In every corner you can feel the atmosphere of music, street performances, food trucks, Irish coffee and good mood. Together with the “Oktoberfeste” in Munich and “Las Fallas” in Valencia, the “Gentse Feesten” belong to the biggest happenings in Europe. It’s great and probably everyone should experience Gentse Feesten at least once in their life but if you want to visit Gent at ease, without thousands of other people at the same time, then you better pick another date. More information about Gentse Feesten can be found here: https://visit.gent.be/en/calendar/ghent-festivities

About Our Family

We are a happy little family consisting of a mum, Kerstin, with three children (Klara, Luise and Bas) and a dog (Luna). We love living in Ghent and our neighborhood. We are fond on sports, music, culture, outside life and good food. We almost do everything by bike and public transport and Belgium is the perfect place for that since everything is so close by. Of course, we will share the “best places” in and around Ghent with you. We would love to welcoming you in our home.
