Seattle, WA, Townhouse in the woods
Welcome to our home in the woods of Issaquah, close to Seattle city center to the West and the snow-capped Cascade mountains to the East.
We live in a quiet, family friendly neighborhood that offers multiple parks and playgrounds, two community swimming pools, basketball, tennis and pickle ball courts, hiking trails and a grocery store all within walking distance, as well as a large mountain bike park with more hiking trails right around the corner. Enjoy a swim, kayaking or other water activities in one of the two large lakes nearby where you can hang out all day (we have two inflatable standup paddle boards available). The cities of Issaquah and nearby Sammamish offer a range of free outdoor summer concerts for the whole family, a salmon hatchery, public library, multiple restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, and a movie theater, as well as opportunities for paragliding. Seattle city center is a short car drive or bus ride away. From there you can take one of the many ferries to explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest with its numerous islands including Victoria British Columbia or visit one of the many museums that Seattle has to offer. Seattle is ground zero for the American music scene, and there are many in- and outdoor concerts all year around. Seattle also has a large stadium, where you can watch live soccer, baseball, and other sporting events.
Our home is equipped with a large screen smart TV, lots of games and books, a well-equipped kitchen (we love to cook!), and an outdoor grill on the patio. It easily sleeps 4 people and each bedroom comes with a separate bathroom.
Our house is located in the Issaquah Alps (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Issaquah_Alps) that offer a wide array of opportunities for outdoor activities. Our house guests can also visit one or more of the beautiful state and national parks nearby, such as the Olympic Peninsula, Mt. Rainier or the beaches of the Oregon coast. There are endless opportunities for outdoor activities in the area and we would love to welcome you to explore them.

Neighborhood
About the neighborhood
We live in a beautiful residential neighborhood filled with tall evergreen trees. And while we enjoy our privacy, we're still minutes away from the center of the village of Issaquah with its restaurants, shopping, theaters, and library. Issaquah and the surrounding area evokes the feeling of living in the Alps (we have some serious hills that make for great hiking and challenging biking!).

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in El Portil. Sergio and April (and Sergio's entire family) were super welcoming and helpful. We were especially impressed with how clean Sergio and April left our home after their stay. This was a great exchange!
Conrad and Ulri were great guests, their house is a gem and since we got to meet them personally, they are absolutely great people. They went above and beyond for us. I would always have good words for them.
We really enjoyed our time in Rome. Alexia took care of our house and all worked out well.

We are a retired aerospace engineer and translator. We enjoy cooking, traveling and outdoor activities including gardening, hiking, cycling, camping, swimming and winter sports. We love the beautiful landscape of the Pacific Northwest with its mountains and lakes as well as the incredible range of great food, arts, and cultural activities Seattle has to offer. We have two grown children. Our son lives in Washington DC and our daughter lives in Belgium. We usually travel by ourselves but our children join us at times.
