Victoria and Sidney BC: Beautiful home in park-like setting near ocean and all amenities

Our home is part of a small and unique townhouse community in a quiet rural setting on 75 hectares with kilometres of adjacent walking paths and close to beaches and the beautiful Gulf Islands. Just minutes to Victoria, Sidney, the ferries, and the airport. We are both retired after long careers in academia and healthcare and finally have time to travel in a more leisurely way, thus home exchanges for weeks to months are ideal.

Vancouver Island has been rated as the number one island holiday destination in North America by Travel and Leisure Magazine (2014), it was just voted as one of the top ten cities in the world in Conde Nast Traveler 2016 Reader's Choice Awards Survey and Victoria (www.hellobc.com/victoria.aspx) is renowned as a vacation spot for people from all over the world. Our nearby town (5 minutes) Sidney by the Sea (www.hellobc.com/sidney.aspx), has more book stores (and coffee bars) per capita than anywhere else in Canada. Victoria is just 25 minutes from our home. Sidney and Victoria offer outstanding shopping, restaurants, natural beauty and attractions. Vancouver and Seattle are an easy trip by ferry/car or plane/helijet, as are all of the Gulf and San Juan Islands.

You can be as active (sailing, walking, hiking, biking, diving, swimming, horseback riding, site-seeing) or inactive as you like in our region. Our home is a great spot to launch trips all over Vancouver Island by car, to the many Gulf and San Juan Islands nearby by convenient ferries (www.bcferries.com), or to Vancouver by air or ferry.

Our home is in a park-like setting with beautiful woods, trails, and gardens all round. We have two large bedrooms plus a very comfortable double Murphy bed in our office/den. We do have 3 bathroom, 2 are full bathrooms with bath, shower, toilet and sink, the 3rd bathroom is a 1/2 bath (or powder room) with a sink and toilet only. WiFi, cable, electronics of all sorts for those so inclined, or better yet sit on the deck, in the hot-tub area, or lay in a hammock in our secluded back yard. From our back deck you can sip your drinks and watch birds, raptors, squirrels, rabbits, racoons, and deer go about their business.

While we love children (and have a grown daughter), only those over 18 are allowed to live in Eagle Ridge (but we can make exceptions on a case by case basis). Similarly, we also love animals (see above!), but we are currently pet-less as we want to spend the next few years travelling. As we tend to like to use our exchange homes as a base of operation to explore new areas, we are not interested in having to take care of pets that require us to be homebound. We have done 10 previous house exchanges that were wonderful in Italy, Colorado, Paris, England and Ireland.
